My cancer story

At 9 or 10 years old, I felt a lump on my back that was initially diagnosed as a lipoma (non cancerous fat lump).

At 16, after an elective surgery to remove the lump is when I received the devastating diagnosis of synovial sarcoma.

A one in a million type of cancer.

And my cancer journey began.

It's now been over 28 years of being cancer free.

But the unexpected reality for me, as is the case for so many survivors, is that cancer free doesn't always feel free.

There's the fear of recurrence, questions on diet and how to lower risks, side effects from treatments, late effects of treatments and so much more.

But at some point - I had to make a decision to focus on what I could change and how I wanted to move forward.

My passion is to help other women rebuild and thrive beyond cancer and do the same.

Because there is so much we can do for our health and how we feel!
